These flaky, bat-shaped croissants filled with chocolate chips are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube of store-bought croissant dough
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Black food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the croissant dough package instructions, typically around 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the croissant dough by rolling it out and cutting it into bat wing shapes.
  3. Fill each bat wing-shaped piece of dough with about a tablespoon of chocolate chips.
  4. Shape the filled dough to create wings and pinch the edges to seal.
  5. Brush the tops with egg wash for a shiny finish.
  6. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar and decorate with black food coloring before serving.

Notes

Chill the dough if it becomes too warm while shaping. Avoid overfilling to prevent ooze during baking.
